Man arrested after police chase in Mecosta County

A man was arrested after Mecosta County sheriff's deputies said he fled the scene during a traffic stop.

MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A man was arrested after a traffic stop turned into a short police chase in Mecosta County.

Deputies from the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office said they conducted a traffic stop on 3 Mile Road near 145th Avenue around 11:47 p.m. Saturday.

During the stop deputies attempted to arrested the driver when he took off in the suspected vehicle.

According to investigators the chase ended approximately a half mile later when one of the passengers jumped out of the window of the moving vehicle.

The passenger was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies said the driver took off on foot after crashing his vehicle.

The driver was later located and taken into custody on several charges.

The name of the suspect is being withheld pending arraignment.
