Man sentenced for assaulting a woman while she slept
CHARLEVOIX COUNTY. Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A northern Michigan man will spend less than a year in jail after pleading guilty to a sex crime.
Tuitamaga Namulauulu, 32 of Kewadin, was sentenced to 330 days in jail with credit for eight days served.
Namulauulu pleaded guilty in August to assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct involving sexual penetration, which has a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison according to Charlevoix County Prosecutor Allen Telgenhof.
Namulauulu met the victim earlier in the day on April 29 but the woman stayed home while Namulauulu and some friends went to a bar, Telgenhof said.
According to Telgenhof, Namulauulu entered the woman's bedroom while she was sleeping and sexually assaulted her.
