Mapping plane prompts confusion from residents

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- For a week that provided the vast majority of northern Michigan with little to no cloud-cover, a peculiar cloud formation spotted over Traverse City prompted several calls into the 7&4 Newsroom Friday afternoon. Residents tell us they spotted a plane making multiple circular contrails.

7&4 News contacted airport operations at Cherry Capitol Airport (TVC) who tell us Minneapolis Air Route Traffic Control Centers contacted the pilot. We are told it was a private plane doing mapping in the area.
