Memorial planned for Jim Farrington, the utility worker killed by electrocution

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A memorial is planned for the utility worker who died Friday while repairing an electrical line.

The memorial for Jim Farrington, 51, is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday October 11 at Streeters Center in Traverse City.

Jim worked for Consumers Energy and died from an electric shock while working on Old Mission Peninsula.

Jim was began his career working for the Lansing Board of Water and Light before moving to northern Michigan and working for Traverse City Light and Power for 10 years.

He was married to his wife Mary for 24 years and they enjoyed motorcycling, boating and traveling.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to the Fallen Linemen Organization.
