MSP: Man causes damage while intoxicated on drugs
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Michigan State Police are asking for more information from the public after a pickup truck caused damage to multiple properties.
The Grand Traverse Central Dispatch says they started receiving calls of a gray Dodge Ram pickup driving erratically just before 6 a.m. Thursday, February 1.
Reports show the pickup crashed into both parked and moving vehicles as well as fixed objects.
The Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office says they responded to the multiple property damage crashes while MSP troopers from the Cadillac Post responded to Munson Medical center where it was reported the suspect vehicle was parked.
Investigators say the suspect driver traveled on US-31 to 11th Street towards Munson Medical Center after leaving his residence in Interlochen.
According to Michigan State Police, the driver consumed multiple doses of prescription medication that severely impaired his ability to drive.
The 36-year-old man was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs, driving on a suspended license and an outstanding fugitive warrant.
Additional charges could be sought by the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office and Michigan State Police.
His name is being withheld pending arraignment.
Troopers are asking anyone with information regarding the incident that took place between 5:45 and 6:15 a.m. on February 1 between Interlochen and Traverse City to contact them.
