MSP: Xanax, marijuana found during traffic stop

LEELANAU COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A traffic stop turns into an arrest after Michigan State Police say drugs were found inside a vehicle.

Troopers from the MSP Cadillac Post say they stopped a vehicle on M-22 near Yacht Club Drive around 2:10 a.m. Saturday.

According to the troopers, a strong odor of marijuana was coming from inside the vehicle.

A backpack with a large ziplock baggie containing several smaller plastic baggies of marijuana was found inside the vehicle during a search by the troopers.

While searching the driver, troopers found four Xanax bars that were not prescribed to the driver.

A 21-year-old Lake Leelanau man was arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of Xanax (schedule 4 narcotic).

The passenger was taken home by a Grand Traverse Band Police Department Officer.
