New pedestrian bridge to connect recreational trail system

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- A new pedestrian bridge is going in at the Brown Bridge Quiet Area in Grand Traverse County.

This historic area is located immediately downstream of the former dam house on Boardman River.

According to the "Currents of the Boardman" William Bridge bought 80 acres of land from the state for $50 in 1869.

Shortly after he built a bridge for stagecoach crossing across the Boardman.

Not only will this new bridge connect the recreational trail system, but it will also serve as an important bridge to the past.
