Northern Michigan principal on leave after claims of 'inappropriate' contact with students
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A northern Michigan middle school principal is under investigation for possible inappropriate interactions with students.
Karl Hartman has been the principal at Kingsley Middle School for three years and an employee with the district for more than 30 years, according to Superintendent Dr. Keith Smith.
Now Hartman is the subject of both a school and law enforcement investigation after reports of inappropriate interactions with multiple male students, Smith said.
Smith said Hartman is on paid leave while the investigations run their course.
The Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office began its investigation Thursday and a letter was sent home to Kingsley parents Friday.
Below is a copy of the letter sent home to parents and the letter to Hartman.
