GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- Two northern Michigan non-profits received grants that will have a huge 'impact' moving forward.

Impact 100 Traverse City gave $127,500 to Inland Seas Education Association and the Peace Ranch.

Impact 100 TC is is the local branch of a nationwide group that awards grants to non-profit organizations in their communities.

This was the first year for the Traverse City chapter.

The group had to narrow down the winners from dozens of applications.

"This type of grant is meant to be a transformational grant," said Impact 100 TC Co-President Allison Beers. "After this year has wrapped up in 2017 Impact 100, nationalLY, will have given away $55 million all over the world."

Beers said they will begin the 2018 grant application process right after the new year.
