Owner of loaded handgun left in bathroom at Sleeping Bear Dunes found
LEELANAU COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Parks rangers have found the owner of the handgun left in a bathroom at the Sleeping Bear Dunes Wednesday.
The 68-year-old man from out-of-state called the park Thursday morning and asked if anyone had found the handgun he misplaced, according to the chief ranger.
The loaded, 9mm handgun was in the men's bathroom near the Dune Climb around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, the ranger said.
The man said he was at the park Wednesday and while on his way back home realized it was missing, the ranger said.
Park law enforcement is looking into the man's concealed permit to see if the gun is properly registered in his home state.
