Police: Dog bites woman, charges at officers.

WEXFORD COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Police are reminding people to keep their animals restrained after a dog bit a Cadillac woman Thursday.

Around 5:15 p.m. Thursday Cadillac Police Officers said a woman was attacked and bitten by a pit bull.

The woman had a bite on her leg and officers said while they were talking to her the pit bull charged at them, barking, growling and acting aggressively.

When a Wexford County Animal Control Officer tried to get control of the dog with a snare pole the dog charged at the animal control officer before running away, police said.

Officers said they chased the dog until they were able to use a tranquilizer dart and take the dog to the animal shelter.

The woman suffered a superficial puncture wound on her leg but refused medical treatment, according to officers.
