Roscommon Transit bus damaged in crash with utility pole
ROSCOMMON COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A crash involving a Roscommon County Transit bus sent three people to the hospital Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened just before 4 p.m. on M-55 in Houghton Lake when the bus hit a utility pole.
Thousands of people lost power because of the crash.
According to Denton Township Police the bus was carrying five children between the ages of three and five, along with their teacher, and the driver.
One of the children along with the teacher and the driver went to the hospital with minor injuries.
The other children were able to go home with their parents.
People who drove by the scene say they were shocked by what they saw and that they saw several EMS personnel on scene.
"You just hope for a good outcome with the people inside the vehicle and not just the vehicle itself because the vehicle can be replaced but not the people", said Cody Nevills, who saw the scene after the crash happened.
Several departments responded to the scene including the Denton Township Police Department, the Denton Township Fire Department, Denton Township EMS, the Michigan State Police, Houghton Lake EMS, and the Roscommon County Sheriff's Department.
Police are still investigating the crash, but think it may be due to a medical condition involving the driver.
