NORTHERN MICHIGAN (WPBN/WGTU) -- A sure sign of the holidays, Salvation Army Red Kettle season began on Friday.

From now until December 24 bell ringers will be out in front of stores collecting donations in the iconic Salvation Army Red Kettles.

The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to help ring bells and raise money this holiday season.

The money raised during the Red Kettle season helps fund the local salvation throughout the year.

There are nine locations in Traverse City alone to volunteer.

To sign up check out the Register to Ring website.
