Sara's House to welcome mothers struggling with addiction
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- Mothers struggling with addiction will soon have a new and safe place to get the treatment services they need.
For the past 12 years the Women's Resource Center of the Grand Traverse Area has owned Sara's House giving dozens of women and children a safe place to stay.
Now, they're transferring it over to Addiction Treatment Services to help serve a greater need.
"In a community this size, we're seeing kinds come through the treatment center whose parents came through the treatment center," says Chris Hindbaugh, ATS CEO. "Our goal is to really break that intergenerational struggle with addiction and really set up families for success, health and wellness, and contributing citizens to this amazing community. "
Sara's House will be able to take in up to 12 women and two families for several months at a time.
The full transition for Addiction Treatment Services is expected to take place in February or early March.
