Soldier, Gaylord native injured in Syria bombing
OTSEGO COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A northern Michigan native was injured in a suicide bombing in Syria earlier this week.
Jon Turnbull, a 2005 graduate of Gaylord High School, was injured, according to Congressman Jack Bergman's Office.
Turnbull was one of three U.S. soldiers injured in the attack in the northeastern town of Manbij.
Around 16 people were killed in the attack, including four Americans, the Associated Press reported.
The Islamic State is taking credit for the attack.
A family member started a GoFundMe to help pay for Turnbull's recovery.
