(WPBN/WGTU) -- WINTER STORM WARNING until 7 PM for Luce County. Another 1 to 3 inches will be common today, plus high wind is creating whiteout conditions at times especially north of Michigan Highway 28.
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY until 7 PM for Chippewa, Mackinac, Leelanau, Charlevoix, Emmet, Cheboygan, Antrim, Otsego, Kalkaska, and Presque Isle Counties. Up to 3 inches of additional snow...mostly this morning.
Be careful driving today. Not a great deal of new snow will fall out of the sky, but the wind is blowing snow on the ground across roads. Visibility is low in rural areas where you get a crosswind. Gusts will be up to 30 mph during the morning...and up to 25 mph in the afternoon. The direction will be mainly from the northwest, but will turn at times to the north or west. Cloudy much of the day. Highs 24-28 degrees in the Upper Peninsula...and 22-28 degrees in the Lower Peninsula.
Tonight you might see a little light snow...but any snow that falls will be scattered and light. Mostly cloudy...not as windy as during the day Friday. Wind will be 10-20 mph from the northwest. Lows will average 8 degrees in the U.P...and the average low temperature in the Lower will be 14 degrees.
Saturday and Sunday the high temperatures will range from 15 to 25 degrees around northern Michigan. Both days you might get some sunshine...although Sunday will be cloudier than Saturday. Wind Saturday will be 5-15 mph from the north...and 5-15 mph from the east on Sunday.
Monday...partly sunny...highs 12 to 22 degrees.
Tuesday and Wednesday we're looking for more snow showers. Highs both days will be mostly in the 20s..
