Takeout and deliveries spike during Super Bowl Sunday

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Restaurants and pizza shops stepped up their game on Sunday for Super Bowl takeout and delivery orders.

Stores were swamped with people ordering all of their favorite party food for their Super Bowl viewing parties.

Local restaurant managers say that Super Bowl Sunday is the biggest day of the year for takeout orders and deliveries.

From pizzas at Mancino’s West Bay and their famous grinders, to chicken wings from Buffalo Wild Wings with all of their famous sauces.

Managers of those restaurants say takeout orders nearly triple and they have to bring in extra staff just to keep up with the orders.

“We have an extra about two to three people on Super Bowl Sunday. It gets very busy during the Super Bowl for pizza deliveries,” said Kenneth Becker, manager at Mancino’s West Bay.

“Super Bowl is very crazy and in the kitchen it's absolutely mayhem,” said Maria Sloan, server at Buffalo Wild Wings. “They have to bring in extra people all of the time. You definitely have to prepare ahead of time to make sure you have enough people for each station. Make sure that you stock up on all of the wings and all of the food that's going to be most popular, because you definitely don't want to run out on Super Bowl Sunday.”

Many of the servers at the restaurants said they don't mind working on Super Bowl Sunday and they actually look forward to it because they get more tips and get to watch football while they work.
