Thousands remain without power due to spring storm

NORTHERN MICHIGAN (WPBN/WGTU) -- A winter storm dumping ice and snow on much of northern Michigan is causing widespread power outages.

The electric companies impacted by the storm have had crews working to restore power to customers.

Great Lakes Energy reported outages in 22 of the 26 counties they serve across Michigan.

Power has been restored to more than 15,000 Great Lakes Energy customers but another 1,656 remain without power.

Presque Isle Electric and Gas Co-op restored power to more than 8,000 customer on Saturday alone.

Presque Isle is still reporting more than 1,500 people with out power.
