GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- It was a very visual reminder in Traverse City of service and sacrifice.
At the Open Space, the local Veterans for Peace chapter continued its annual tradition of setting up markers to honor those lives lost during military service.
Some of the markers included pictures of local service members who have died.
Visitors who came were able to put a name and face to something that is often reduced to just a number.
Organizers said the purpose of the event is not only remembering those men and women but also the true cost of war.
