GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) - On Sunday morning dozens of skiers glided across the start and finish lines for the classic races during the 43rd North American VASA.

The race courses started and finished at Timber Ridge Resort in Traverse City.

There were 6k races, 16k races and 35k races.

It wasn't just adults who took part in the classic races, there were also races for high school girls and boys.

Some younger kids were also thrilled to cross the finish line for the classic races.

"Some of the kilometers were hills but most of it was downhill and I like to downhills because they're a little easier. It was hard at first but then it got a little easier," said Sylvia Coulter a 9-year-old who took part in the 6k classic race.

Overall, hundreds of people took part in VASA events.
