Victim identified in fatal Wexford County fire

Investigators said Dane Hesselink, 57, of Cadillac died from smoke inhalation when the small, shed like building he was living caught fire.

WEXFORD COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The person who died in a house fire in Clam Lake Township has been identified.

The victim is identified as Dane Robert Hesselink, 57, of Cadillac.

Hesselink died after the small, shed like building he was living in on East M-115 caught fire around 1:45 a.m. Friday.

The Wexford County medical examiner said Hesselink died from smoke inhalation.

Detective Sergeant Piskor with the Wexford County Sheriff's Office said the fire appears to be accidental but is still under investigation by the Cadillac City Fire Department.
