Volleyball team holds competition to benefit Father Fred Foundation.

More than 40 boxes were donated to the Father Fred Foundation.

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU)--For the second year in a row the North Shore volleyball teams held a food drive competition.

Teams competed against each other for points based on the item donated.

Points ranged from 20 for a can of tuna to 250 points for a coat.

In addition to the points, the teams raised more than 395 dollars.

No prizes were awarded, but the girls learned the lesson of helping others in their time of need.

"Then you score the points to see which team scored the highest," said Holly Briggs. "There's no prize but you get the benefit of knowing that you helped your team out and helped out Father Fred."

After the competition, the donations are sorted and put on a truck.

More than forty boxes were donated to the Father Fred Foundation.

Which said inventory was low and that this would help make a huge difference to their bottom line.
