GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY (WPBN/WGTU) -- The holidays will be a little bit brighter for kids in Northern Michigan thanks to a generous community effort.
Dozens of people gathered at VFW Cherryland Post in Traverse City for the 10th annual Bikes for Tikes assemble day.
More than 240 bikes and big wheels were donated from the community throughout the year.
Volunteers came out to put each bike together piece by piece while working as a team.
Each bike will be given to the Northwest Michigan Toys for Tots and distributed to kids up to 18-years-old.
"This is incredible. I have nothing but gracious words for our volunteers. It means a lot to me because I'd be here all night otherwise," said Richard Hines, Co-Founder of Northwestern Michigan Bikes for Tikes.
Hines says Bikes for Tikes has donated more than 4,100 bikes to the community.
