Wind Escort issued for the Mackinac Bridge

MACKINAC COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The Mackinac Bridge Authority has issued a wind escort for the Mackinac Bridge.

The advisory was issued around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday.

The MBA said high-profile vehicles, which include pickup trucks with campers; cars with small boats, bicycles or luggage attached to the roof, Ryder or U-Haul trucks, any vehicle pulling a boat, semi-tractors with enclosed trailers and all trailers with side walls over two feet in height must be escorted while going across the bridge.

Motorists are advised to reduce their maximum speed to 20 miles per hour as they approach the bridge and be prepared to stop.

The Authority is monitoring wind speeds at various points along the structure.
