Windsurfer missing in Bear Lake
MANISTEE COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- On Saturday, crews will continue to search for a surfer who may have been taken under water by high waves Friday afternoon.
According to the Manistee County Sheriff's Office, a 66-year-old woman and her husband were windsurfing on Bear Lake when she went under.
Deputies, the Department of Natural Resources, firefighters and the Coast Guard all came out to search, but gusty winds and waves higher than three feet made it difficult.
The search will resume Saturday morning, with dive teams and sonar scans.
We're told the woman was an expert windsurfer, who had surfed all over the world.
