WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for all of northern Michigan. Except Luce County where a WINTER STORM WARNING is in effect...here the snow could be more intense and the winds higher. The advisory begins at various times...this morning in the Lower Peninsula...and this afternoon in the Upper Peninsula. The storm will spread south to north thru the day. Most of what we will get is snow...but the snow could be mixed with freezing rain in the southern half of the Lower. The advisory will end at various times early Thursday. A Winter Weather Advisory is a travel advisory...traffic will be slower as the the storm moves in.

Today the storm that spreads from around Ludington toward Sault Ste. Marie thru the day will drop up to 6 inches of snow in the U.P. this afternoon and tonight. In the northern Lower you could see up to 5 inches of snow. From the central counties of the Lower southward...you will see lower snow totals because you could see some freezing rain mixed with the snow. Regardless, the roads will turn icy as the storm spreads out thru the day. Wind will increase. It will gust to 20+ mph today from the southeast. High temperatures will be 26 to 28 degrees in the U.P...and 26 to 35 degrees in the Lower.

Tonight we're still getting snow mixed with freezing rain. The farther north you are, the more snow you will see. The farther south you are, the more likely you may see some freezing rain mixed with the snow. Lows in the 20s. Wind will be turning to the southwest and gust to 25 mph.

Thursday morning there could be some light snow left behind, but much of the precipitation from this storm will end before sunrise. Much of the day will be cloudy. Wind will gust to 25 mph from the west. Highs 28 to 32 degrees.

Friday will be sunny at times...call the day partly sunny. The sun will be in and out of passing clouds. Highs in the 30s. Good day to get out.

Saturday we're expecting a mix of rain and snow showers. Light amounts, but travel will be slower. Highs in the 32 to 38 degree range around northern Michigan. And the wind will be light.

Sunday...more rain and snow...but heavy amounts. The roads could turn icy anywhere around the region. The wind will gust strongly. The combination of more intense precipitation and higher wind will make Sunday a more difficult day to travel. Please, pay close attention to the changing weather on Sunday. Highs will be 32 to 38 degrees..
