Winter weather advisory issued in northern Michigan

Winter weather advisory remains in effect until 5 p.m. Sunday.

MICHIGAN (WPBN/WGTU) -- A winter weather advisory has been issued for much of northern lower Michigan.

The National Weather Service in Gaylord issued the weather advisory until 5 p.m. Sunday.

The counties issued the warning are Emmet, Cheboygan, Charlevoix, Leelanau, Antrim, Otsego, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Crawford, Missaukee and Roscommon.

One to four inches of lake effect snow is expected throughout those areas, according to the weather service.

A layer of ice on the roads and reduced visibility at times could make for difficult driving conditions, the weather service said.

The weather service urges drivers to be careful while traveling.
