Woman dead after two-vehicle crash in Mackinac County

Investigators say the driver of the minivan was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries.

MACKINAC COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Investigators believe icy roads could be the reason for a deadly crash involving a pickup truck and a minivan.

It happened on US-2 just west of St. Ignace at 8:15 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators said the minivan was going east when the driver crossed the centerline before being hit by the pickup truck.

According to the Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post, the driver of the minivan was taken to the Straits Area Hospital where she later died from her injuries.

The driver of the pickup was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The crash is still under investigation but troopers do not believe alcohol was involved.

The name of the woman is being withheld at this time.
