Gripping 911 calls of Tennessee girl accidentally shot by sibling released

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) --Heartbreaking 911 calls of a 10-year-old Tennessee girl killed after her twin sibling accidentally shot her have been released.

Police say the girl was shot while inside a vehicle outside a Dollar General in St. Joseph on Sunday afternoon. She was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Hospital but died from her wound.

The frantic and heartbreaking calls were made by the girl's sister, a Dollar General employee, and a bystander.

The first call was made by the girl's sister, followed by the employee and bystander. According to the calls, the girl's brother was either stepping into or out of the vehicle when the gun went off, striking her above the eye.

Callers state the girl's father was trying to help her, paper towels being pressed to her head to contain the bleeding. Another bystander took the children inside to console them while those on scene fought to save their sister's life.

Although described as breathing at the time, the girl was unconscious and later died.
