TC baseball team announces six finalists for new name

Traverse City Baseball, a group of investors led by the West Michigan Whitecaps, has purchased Wuerfel Park and will begin play as a Northwoods League affiliate in May of 2019.

TRAVERSE CITY -- While the winter months can take there toll on baseball fans, the new Traverse City baseball organization out of the Northwoods League is looking to spice up some interest by getting fans involved in the final vote for the team's new name.

Over 3,000 submissions were received for the new name contest that started back in September.

Six name finalists have been revealed that fans can vote on beginning December 5th and ending December 14th. Fan preferences and comments will be considered by the team's front office before the final decision is made.

The six options for the name include the Black Pearls, Dogmen, Dune Bears, Pit Spitters, Tree Shakers and Sasquatch.

You can cast your vote for the new name by visiting the TC Baseball website. They will begin the 2019 season at home on Tuesday, May 28th against Green Bay.
