Six area volleyball players heading to Florida for national competition
TRAVERSE CITY -- Ignore the fact that volleyball in the state of Michigan is a September to November sport and picture some of the best players in the area finding some extra time to play the game.
That's the case for six northern Michigan girls who are taking part in the Far Out Volleyball Club program down in Grand Rapids. Not only do they commute down 2-3 times a week but they are also packing their bags for a trip to Orlando, Florida to play in a national competition from June 16th through the 28th.
Three different groups will take part including area players Maggie McCrary and Emma Turnquist from Traverse City Central, sisters Molly and Emma Mirabelli from Traverse City St. Francis and Traverse City Christian as well as Kingsley's Jessica Lefler and Leland's Ella Siddal.
We caught up with McCrary and Molly Mirabelli in our latest Jimmy John's Sports Corner for an interview. To learn more about the Far Out Volleyball program you can visit their website.
