Inland Lakes softball, St. Mary and St. Francis baseball heading to state semifinals

Traverse City St. Francis has shut out all five of their opponents in the district, regional and quarterfinal rounds this postseason.

Championship week has arrived in high school baseball and softball with the state quarterfinals taking place on Tuesday. Winners advance to the semifinals on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing.

In Division 4 softball the top ranked Inland Lakes Bulldogs got an 11-1 win over Rogers City. The Bulldogs, who appeared in last year's state championship game, will now play Kalamazoo Christian in a state semifinal on Friday at 10am.

Gaylord St. Mary clinched a second straight trip the state semifinals in Division 4 baseball with an 8-3 win over Rudyard. The Snowbirds will play Hudson on Friday at 5pm.

Traverse City St. Francis continued an impressive postseason shutout streak with a 3-0 win over Grand Rapids West Catholic in the Division 3 baseball quarterfinals. The top ranked Glads will now meet up with Schoolcraft in a Friday semifinal at 11:30am.

Sault Ste. Marie also took part in a baseball semifinal in Division 2 on Tuesday. The Blue Devils fell short to Bay City John Glenn 11-1.
