Leland records another sweep, clinches trip to volleyball state finals
BATTLE CREEK - The Leland Comets have a goal every year to play for a state championship. Now with one game to go they have an opportunity to bring back a sixth volleyball title after they defeated Carney Nadeau 3-0 in the Division 4 state semifinals on Friday.
The Comets struggled early to find their game as the Wolves took them to the final points in that first game before Leland won 25-21.
From there Leland found their comfort zone that they’ve had at Kellogg Arena plenty of times before, winning the other two games 25-14 and 25-16 for the sweep.
That means it will #1 Leland vs #2 Mendon for the D4 state championship on Saturday at 10am.
Leading the way statistically for the Comets in Friday’s semifinal were Hannah Elwell with 17 kills, Ella Siddall with 34 assists and Mia Osorio with 14 digs.
