Petoskey boys win 8th straight downhill ski championship

The Petoskey boys won by almost 26 points in the Division 2 boys downhill ski championships at Schuss Mountain.

The MHSAA downhill ski finals are usually held in northern Michigan every year which brings a lot of the talent from downstate and from across the bridge all the way into our region to showcase the absolute best in the sport.

The absolute best in the sport is also the best way to describe the dominance the Petoskey boys ski team has put forth as they won their eighth straight Division 2 downhill ski championship on Monday on the slopes of Schuss Mountain just outside of Bellaire. The Northmen held off second place Great North Alpine by almost 26 points on the way to another impressive championship.

GNA's Finn Husband captured the individual Slalom crown with a combined time of 59.82. Cadillac's Alex Netzley took home the Giant Slalom title with a combined time of 49.51

In the Division 2 girls race Harbor Springs cracked the top of the leaderboard with a third place finish as a team. Gaylord's Regan Olli was victorious in the Slalom competition with a combined 1:06.52 and she came within a third of a second of winning the Giant Slalom course as well.

In the Division 1 races at Boyne Mountain Marquette picked up a sweep in both the boys and girls races. Traverse City Central finished second in the boys race while Traverse City West took runner-up in the girls with the Trojans coming in third.
