St. Francis volleyball falls 3-1 in state semifinal.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — Traverse City St Francis had reason to be excited returning to Kellogg Arena and the volleyball state semifinals for the first time in three years.

The Glads did struggle in the first game of the Division 3 match with Unionville-Sebewaing similarly to the way they started in the regional semifinal and quarterfinal. The Patriots won that first game 25-16.

The second game was a lot more back and forth as anyone could have picked up the win but in the end USA took that meeting 26-24.

With their backs against the wall, St Francis bounced back in the third game with a 25-19 win but the Patriots proved to be too much in that fourth game as they held off another strong Glads push to win the game 25-21 and take the match 3-1 to advance to Saturday’s state final.

Molly Mirabelli led the Glads with 22 kills and 28 digs while Hannah Sidorowicz provided 38 assists.
