St. Francis wins thrilling regional, Central turnovers prove too much
It was a cold and uncomfortable night for high school football playoff games to resume on Friday but most teams kept the motivation of a regional championship in mind as they took to the field.
Traverse City St. Francis played in its fourth straight regional title game when they traveled down to Millington. A game the Glads look like they had in hand actually came down to the final hail-mary touchdown attempt which St. Francis was able to stop and secure the 33-26 win and the regional crown. They now await the winner of Ithaca and Montague for a Division 6 state semifinal next Saturday.
Traverse City Central was on the road Friday in a Division 2 regional against Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central. Too many turnovers led to Ranger points as the Trojans season ended with a 28-10 loss.
Pickford's undefeated season also came to an end in the 8-player state semifinals against Crystal Falls Forest Park. The Panthers fell 36-34 in that game.
