TRAVERSE CITY -- A new era is set to begin for two rival lacrosse programs in northern Michigan.

The Traverse City Thunder Squirrels and Bay Hawks are used to being rivals but starting in 2018 they will be one combined program as Traverse City United.

The move will allow them to be MHSAA certified for the upcoming year at the varsity level and compete in the postseason state tournament.

Traverse City United will begin its season on March 21st at Thirlby Field against another MHSAA certified program, Traverse City St. Francis.
