Leland's Alisha Glass headed to Olympics in Rio

TRAVERSE CITY, Mi. (WPBN/WGTU)--The Olympic games are quickly approaching and one community in northern Michigan, Leland, will be sending one of their own to Rio.

Leland's Alisha Glass was officially named to the United States Olympic women's volleyball team for the Rio Games on Tuesday.

Glass now joins the 12 women USA Volleyball team roster.

She's a former Leland volleyball player and has won championships at the high school, college and national team levels.

She has been a member of the Team USA National Team for several years and was named USA Volleyball female indoor athlete of the year twice.

Glass was also named best setter of the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship.

We caught up with Glass' mother in Traverse City.
