Brendan Kinney is excited to once again call northern Michigan home!
He’s rejoining the UpNorthLive News Today team as an anchor and reporter.
Brendan was born and raised in Port Huron, Michigan. He graduated from Valparaiso University in Indiana. Immediately after receiving his diploma, he moved north to Traverse City. Brendan spent the first 4 1/2 years of his career at UpNorthLive News, serving in multiple roles including morning news anchor, reporter and weekend anchor. One of the many career highlights includes exploring the top of the Mackinac Bridge’s south tower – 552 feet above the water.
In 2018 he moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to report at CBS21 News. He covered stories including the grand jury report on clergy sexual abuse in Pennsylvania Catholic dioceses, along with stories on politics, crime, education and weather. He was honored to report live from the White House, fulfilling both a professional and personal dream. Brendan also served as a fill-in anchor, leading CBS21’s coverage of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.
Brendan is looking forward to reconnecting with people who make northern Michigan such a special place to live.
